Eulerian Approach for Pressureless Air-Mixed Droplet Flow in Atmospheric Icing
This study focuses on the numerical methods for the pressureless air-mixed droplet flow in atmospheric icing conditions. We identified several numerical challenges associated with droplet flows, specifically: numerical instability related to the source term, boundary conditions applied to solid surfaces, and the numerical accuracy of the existing approach for the original Eulerian droplet equations. In this study we propose new approaches: a new relaxation model for the convection term of the original Eulerian droplet equations, an proper time step incorporating a CFL-like parameter for the source term, and the new boundary conditions based on the sign of the velocity projection on solid surfaces.
