WITHDRAWN: External Store Safe Separation Evaluation Process Implementing the Enhanced Separation Analysis and MIL-HDBK-1763
The external store safe separation evaluation process implementing the enhanced separation analysis and MIL-HDBK-1763 is proposed to support the evaluation and compliance of the external store safe separation by extensively using the multi-fidelity analysis including empirical, CFD, and test data with the criteria from MIL-HDBK-1763. The criteria of safe separation are researched and investigated for the various standards and handbooks such as MIL-HDBK-1763, MIL-HDBK-244A, AGARD-AG-202 and AGARD-AG-300 to acquire the appropriate and tailored values and limits for the typical applications of external carriages and aircraft fighters. The enhanced separation analysis (ESA) is constructed by using the multi-fidelity analyses to create the vertical and horizontal safe plane for the typical munitions and aircraft. The GBU-31 bomb on the F-16 aircraft is selected as the validation subject for this process. The evaluation criteria are determined based on standards for compatibility and safety for airborne weapons. The state and trajectory of the GBU-31 under the aerodynamic influence of the F-16 aircraft shape, external fuel tank, and AIM-9M missile are analyzed using CFD methods based on reliable input data obtained from experiments and static test data of ejection unit. An enhanced evaluation process is conducted by analyzing the simulation results of the GBU-31's state and trajectory upon leaving the aircraft. Its motion trend and the critical points on the GBU-31, which have a high likelihood of colliding with the F-16 aircraft, external fuel tank, and AIM-9M missile, were identified. The motion characteristics of the critical points must fall within safe zone in both the vertical and lateral directions. The proposed process demonstrates the effectiveness and reliability in providing the understandings the complicated store separation and the reduction of flight test sorties during the improved and newly munition development projects by extensively using the multi-fidelity and tailoring the existing standards.
