Review of Wildfire Detection, Fighting, and Technologies: Future Prospects and Insights

Wildfires are becoming an increasingly global issue, exacerbated by climate change, and require innovative detection, forecasting, and management strategies. Existing wildfire management systems have notable strengths but also face significant challenges, particularly in real-time detection, scalability, and adapting to fluctuating environmental factors such as wind speed, humidity, and vegetation moisture. This review paper thoroughly evaluates cutting-edge techniques, including satellite technology, machine learning models, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in wildfire detection and fighting. The review highlights potential areas for technological integration and effective solutions in resource-constrained locations by examining their advantages and limitations. Furthermore, it examines how well current systems can adapt to changing wildfire behaviors. It also considers the role of geospatial technologies and predictive models in improving early warning systems. This paper identifies significant gaps and overlapping initiatives through a thorough review, providing researchers and practitioners with practical insights to enhance existing methods and explore new opportunities for advancing wildfire management.
