Route Planning for Multiple e-VTOLs Systems Using ECVRPTW

The contribution of this research is an advanced route calculation framework for multiple electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft, utilizing the Electric Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows (ECVRPTW) model, which incorporates time scheduling and battery constraints. The system, inspired by bus networks with predefined routes and schedules, is demonstrated using the São Paulo metropolitan area as a case study, but is designed to operate universally in any city. Given the complexity of the urban environment, the framework is designed to manage traffic density and optimize flight paths while addressing battery limitations. A data analysis study was also conducted to identify the optimal locations for eVTOL platforms and stations, utilizing data from Uber and Google. This research contributes to the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) field by providing a robust method for managing multiple eVTOL operations in urban settings, with a focus on battery management and route optimization.
