Prevalence and prognostic role of atrial fibrillation in chronic severe aortic regurgitation
AF is present in one in six patients with chronic≥moderate-to-severe AR and is associated with an increased risk of mortality even after adjusting for measures of LV systolic and diastolic function. There is a need for future prospective studies to validate these findings and evaluate AF as a potential trigger for early surgery.
