Communicating the Cosmos: A Call for Academic and Industry Collaboration in Space Science Communication's Unification
The rapid advancement of science communication research is currently operating in tandem with the exponential growth of space science as a global endeavor. Despite the parallel movement of these fields, there has been little work to coordinate scholarship focused on the public’s understanding of and engagement with space science as a factor of the daily lived experience and its impact on a globalized society. Scholars seek to understand better ways of communicating other important scientific factors that pertain to climate change, public health, risk perception, and overall understanding of science; the rising prominence of space science and its many additional benefits to the everyday experience gives great reason for existing science and communication scholars to quickly identify and apply best practices.
