Guidance Algorithms for Precision Landing of a Launcher First-Stage
This paper presents the development and verification of guidance algorithms for precision landing of a reusable launcher first-stage. Emphasizing reusability in space transportation, the research focuses on Vertical Takeoff Vertical Landing (VTVL) approaches, specifically a Return to Launch Site (RTLS) trajectory. Guidance strategies for gliding and landing burn phases are designed to address aerodynamic challenges while ensuring safe and precise landing. Using a three-degree-of-freedom (3-DOF) simulation model, performances of the algorithms are verified through Monte Carlo analysis, accounting for variations in lift, drag, and wind disturbances.
