WITHDRAWN: A Discretization-Consistent Subgrid-Scale Model Based on the Hypothesis of Scale Similarity

Although implicit large eddy simulations (ILES) based on the high order discontinuous Galerkin spectral element methods (DGSEM) have been successfully applied to many complex turbulent flows. However, on a coarser mesh than a regular LES, the solution quality of ILES becomes unsatisfactory. In this paper, a discretization-consistent (DC) SGS model based on the hypothesis of scale similarity is proposed to improve the accuracy of DGSEM for LES, especially on a highly coarse mesh. The DC model is proposed within our recently developed LES analysis framework (including an intrinsic filter, filtered differential equations and subgrid-scale (SGS) terms), which will be presented as well. For validation, a commonly-used decaying homogeneous isotropic turbulence problem is used. With a reference DNS, properties of the DC model are studied in an a priori way. Furthermore, some a posteriori tests are included to demonstrate the capability of the DC model in improving solution accuracy.
