An Airline Dynamic Adaptive Planning Tool for Operations (ADAPTO): Sustainable Aviation Fuel Uptake

The presented work addresses the key issue of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) uptake for airlines. The issues are explored through some preliminary investigations into to the implied systems dynamics and ultimately this is developed into an exploration of the strategic issues, leading to a proposed approach. The Airline Dynamic Adaptive Planning Tool for Operations (ADAPTO) is proposed and subsequently tested at a conceptual level. It is concluded that the main contribution of the proposed Tool is that it contemplates the change perspective and significance of tentative solutions, thus assisting in determining balanced solutions, considering an airline’s capacity to combine agility towards sustainability and insight for business continuity. The Tool is thus the end-product of this research assignment, focusing on stakeholder engagement by promoting educated inter-disciplinary discussions and developing strategies in a landscape of uncertainties.
