Design, Fabrication & Testing of Emergency Rapid Deflation Device
Tethered aerostats, crucial to a wide array of applications in Lighter-Than-Air (LTA) systems, suffer the ongoing risk of inadvertent tether breaking, posing challenges to operational continuity and safety. This paper offers a thorough design and implementation methodology for an Emergency Rapid Deflation Device (ERDD) in response to this pressing issue. The ERDD is designed to provide controlled descent, protect cargo integrity and the envelope in emergency situations. Conceptualization, requirements gathering, conceptual design, detailed design, and future scope analysis are all covered in detail in this paper. Important contributions are also highlighted, such as the creation of accurate actuation mechanisms, the incorporation of redundant safety features, and reliable communication protocols. To sum up, the ERDD architecture that has been given is a major improvement in the operational efficiency and safety of tethered aerostats.
