Advanced Crop Management and Health Assessment Using Multispectral UAVs for Precision Agriculture
Agricultural analysis is crucial for the effective and efficient management of crops. However, the current crop monitoring processes are imprecise and slow. In this report, UAVs equipped with a full soil and crop sensor packages are used to analyze the crop health, soil quality, and moisture level of a field. The UAVs are able to collect precise data and decrease the amount of time required for the plots to be analyzed and field management plan developed. It was determined that the time required for data collection drastically decreased in comparison to typical analysis methods while also gathering more precise data and sampling more field area. Specifically, the use of UAVs with advanced sensor packages, when paired with a drone mapping tool with data processing capabilities, allows for high-resolution monitoring of soil moisture, nutrient levels, and crop health, enabling farmers to make data-driven decisions in real time.
