Center of Excellence (CoE) in sustainable Ayush at IIT, Delhi - A significant step towards growing Ayurveda with advanced technology integration and sustainability

The establishment of the Center of Excellence (CoE) in Sustainable Ayush at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi marks a significant advancement in integrating modern science and sustainability with traditional Ayurvedic practices, specifically in the domain of Rasashastra - the Ayurvedic science of herbomineral formulations. Despite the demonstrated efficacy of these formulations, their broader global acceptance has been hindered by concerns related to environmental impact, lack of standardization, and insufficient technological integration. This CoE aims to overcome these barriers by focusing on the development of net-zero and environmentally sustainable solutions for medicine preparation, the design of advanced and automated manufacturing devices, and the application of Artificial Intelligence for process optimization and endpoint detection. A parallel thrust is the creation of decision support systems to inform evidence-based policy-making and facilitate market expansion. The initiative will also prioritize capacity building and entrepreneurship through national level training, workshops, and technology dissemination. Strategic collaborations with premier institutions such as the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences, National Institute of Ayurveda Jaipur, and All India Institute of Ayurveda Delhi will strengthen the scientific foundation of the centers. Supported by the Ministry of Ayush under the Central Sector Scheme for Ayurswasthya Yojana, this initiative represents a transformative step toward globalizing Ayurveda through sustainable and technology-enabled innovation.
