Four-Load Series Resonant Inverter With Hybrid Control for Induction Based Cooking Applications

Induction heating has emerged as an energy-efficient and eco-friendly alternative to conventional resistance heating methods. This technology rapidly heats the cookware with minimum energy loss using the electromagnetic induction principle for use in domestic cooking applications. The converter plays a prominent role here, generating high-frequency currents to heat the cookware. Designing a cost-effective converter with reasonable efficiency for multiple load applications is more challenging in an IH system. An inverter configuration for the multi-load application is proposed here with reduced components, higher efficiency, improved ZVS range, and simple control. The proposed inverter is simulated using the MATLAB Simulink tool for 2.5 kW output power with four ferromagnetic loads. A combination of asymmetric voltage cancellation (AVC) and ONOFF control (i.e. Hybrid control) techniques are used to control the loads independently. The inverter operating frequency is 30 $\mathbf{k H z}$ and the maximum efficiency observed is $\mathbf{9 4. 6 \%}$.

Abstract

The inverter operating frequency is 30 $\mathbf{k H z}$ and the maximum efficiency observed is $\mathbf{9 4. 6 \%}$.
