A Novel Centralized Active Power Control Strategy for Multifrequency Microgrid with Energy Storage System
A Multifrequency microgrid (MFMG) is a type of Microgrid that operates at multiple frequencies simultaneously. Different frequency power maintains orthogonality and transmits simultaneously through the bus without mixing and different frequency voltages and currents are present on the Multi-Frequency Bus in an MFMG. Due to the uncertainty of renewable sources, the energy storage system should be installed in MFMG. All converters used in MFMG are unidirectional. For higher reliability, an MFMG with an energy storage system is required, for which a bidirectional converter is needed. The power balancing technique for MFMG with ESS is not yet properly defined in any literature. This paper introduces a DC-to-MF converter as the fundamental component of a grid-forming converter in a Multi-frequency microgrid (MFMG). The proposed converter is analyzed in both grid feed and load scenarios. Its operation is examined through simulations conducted in MATLAB/Simulink, and the corresponding results are presented and discussed.
