Microgrid Based Fast Charger for Electric Powered Vehicles
India’s growing electric vehicle (EV) market, supported by initiatives like FAME-II, faces a major challenge of inadequate charging infrastructure. This paper proposes a microgrid-based fast-charging system that mitigates issues such as heat generation and battery degradation during high-speed charging by employing an adaptive Constant Current-Constant Voltage (CCCV) methodology that dynamically adjusts charging parameters based on real-time temperature and state-of-charge (SoC) feedback-actively controlling thermal rise to maintain battery health. Powered by renewable energy from a photovoltaic microgrid, the system reduces grid dependence and promotes sustainability. Future work will focus on hardware implementation and further optimization for faster, safer, and scalable EV charging across India.
