Cyber Resilient Fully Distributed Secondary Control for Inverter Dominant AC microgrid

A distributed consensus control strategy is preferred in the secondary control layer in AC microgrids above the primary droop control to regulate voltage and frequency. This control strategy involves information exchange among neighboring distributed generators(DGs) on a communication layer. This communication layer is prone to cyber intrusions, such as false data injection (FDI) attacks from malicious intruders that aim to disorient system control objectives. To deal with such attacks, this paper proposes a virtual layer-based distributed consensus control strategy that achieves resiliency against FDI attacks on secondary control layer of islanded AC microgrid. The proposed strategy achieves resiliency against sensor and communication FDI attacks without imposing any restrictions on the number of DGs attacked. The effectiveness of the proposed strategy is validated through simulation studies on a 4- DG test system under various FDI attack conditions.
