Social Media for Political Education: How X Account @BijakMemilih Engages Generation Z in Politics
Generation Z, born between 1996 and 2012, plays a pivotal role in shaping politics, however, compared to older generations, Generation Z often lacks political awareness [1]. This issue presents challenges and opportunities for fostering political learning. This study examines how social media platforms, particularly Platform X (formerly Twitter), can become a key link between young citizens and politics, enhancing political understanding among Generation Z [2]. Using social learning theory, the research analyzes @BijakMemilih, a popular X account, to assess factors influencing political awareness. The research analyzed responses from Generation Z followers of Bijak Memilih on Platform X using a snowballing sample. Linear regression was used for data analysis, alongside a classical assumption test using the IBM SPSS Statistics 27 Program. Findings reveal that while @BijakMemilih effectively engages Generation Z, it lacks depth in fostering long-term political involvement. The study emphasizes the need for authentic, relatable, and engaging content to enhance political education and critical thinking among young voters.
