Developing a Cybersecurity Curriculum Using Best Practices and Student Awareness Insights

Cybersecurity is becoming increasingly important as cyber threats emerge more frequently. Education and training play a critical role in enhancing knowledge and skills, making university programs and professional courses indispensable. This research aims to develop a cybersecurity curriculum based on best practices from existing literature and previous courses, as well as insights from a survey of students who have taken a cybersecurity course. The results show that while students possess a solid understanding of basic cybersecurity practices, there are significant gaps in their awareness of advanced threats and their implementation of comprehensive security measures. The proposed curriculum addresses these awareness gaps by outlining modules, topics covered, and teaching methods, integrating survey insights and best practices. This research will contribute to improving cybersecurity education by providing a framework for closing these gaps and enhancing students' readiness for emerging cyber threats.
