Prioritizing Factors Influencing Gig Worker Upskilling Through E-Learning Platforms: A Hybrid AHP-TOPSIS Approach
The gig economy, driven by digital platforms, has transformed the labor market, emphasizing the need for gig workers to upskill and remain competitive. This study evaluates five e-learning alternatives—Self-Paced Online Courses, Microlearning Modules, Live Virtual Classes, Gamified E-Learning Platforms, and Blended Learning—using a hybrid AHP- TOPSIS approach. Criteria such as Relevance to Gig Work, Accessibility, Cost-Effectiveness, Certification Recognition, and Learner Engagement were prioritized to identify the most effective solutions. Gamified E-Learning Platforms ranked highest, followed by Microlearning Modules for their flexibility and focused content. These findings highlight the importance of accessible and engaging e-learning solutions for gig workers. Practical recommendations are offered for gig workers, developers, and policymakers to enhance e-learning accessibility, relevance, and impact. This study underscores the role of e-learning in empowering gig workers and fostering sustainable growth in the gig economy.
