Research on Smart Learning Environment Architecture of the Open University based on Improved PST Framework

Education informatization is the foundation and core competitiveness of the Open University, and the construction of the learning environment of the Open University is the main embodiment of education informatization. The smart learning environment, relying on advanced information technologies, is capable of providing comprehensive support for various teaching and research activities. This research firstly analyzes the characteristics and problems of the Open University of China, and then proposes the construction framework of smart learning environment in the Open University based on the improved PST (Pedagogy-Space-Technology) framework. Compared with the traditional PST framework, the improved PST framework considers also the overall factors, which can further integrate and reinforce the three elements of space, technology and pedagogy. Therefore, this paper designs the learning environment from the four core elements of space, technology, pedagogy and overall, and refines the construction framework of smart learning environment in the Open University. Based on the mode of online-merge-offline teaching, the proposed framework is learner-centered, and can build a smart learning environment to support pre-class, in-class and after-class learning, so as to effectively improve the quality of teaching and learning, and help cultivate applied talents that meet the needs of society.
