A Novel High Voltage Gain SiC-based Three Port DC-DC Converter for Standalone PV Applications

High-voltage gain SiC-based three-port DC-DC converters (HVGTPC) are a crucial requirement for renewable energy applications, particularly in photovoltaic (PV) systems, to address the issue of intermittency of the PV source. The proposed HVGTPC consists of a switched inductive cell to achieve high voltage gain, which is operating in four distinct modes, such as PV to both battery and DC bus, PV and battery to DC bus, PV to DC bus, and battery to DC bus. Compared to recently described converters, the proposed topology has a higher voltage gain, lower input ripple current, bidirectional battery port, and common ground connection between input and output ports to obtain the control based on the power requirement. The suggested converter’s performance has been confirmed through MATLAB Simulink under different operating modes, which demonstrates the operation of the proposed converter.
