Kriging-Based Prediction of Air Delivery Performance in Ceiling Fans and Its Validation

An approach for studying and measuring electrical and mechanical performance, along with impact of blade configuration on ceiling fan motors, is presented in this paper. In addition to investigating electrical performance and effects of mechanical load, this study integrates air delivery prediction through a Kriging-based modelling technique. Without altering ceiling fan assembly, a cost-effective, simple-circuitry test platform is implemented. This platform is designed with a reaction-type load cell installed on a shaft and integrated with circuitry for signal processing to measure torque at the shaft. Acquired data is then utilized to predict fan’s air delivery performance, providing a comprehensive assessment of its operational efficiency.
