Dynamic Analysis of Quadratic Gain Single Input Dual Output DC-DC Converter

This paper presents the dynamic analysis of a Single Input Dual Output (SIDO) DC-DC converter, focusing on its small-signal modeling, transient response, and stability assessment. The converter’s dynamic behavior is analyzed to evaluate its performance under varying load conditions, input voltage fluctuations, and control variations. A state-space averaging technique is employed to derive the small-signal transfer functions, enabling precise controller design for voltage regulation. From the obtained transfer functions, the system exhibits stable poles in the left-half of the s-plane, ensuring that the converter operates in a stable region under nominal conditions. However, there are certain zeros on the Right-Hand Side (RHS) of the s-plane. A hardware prototype of the SIDO converter has been developed and assembled in a laboratory setup. Experimental validation is performed to validate the steady-state performance. The transient response is studied using MATLAB/Simulink ${ }^{\circledR}$, verifying the converter’s ability to maintain stable operation with minimal overshoot and settling time.
