Sustainability of mHealth App Use in Indonesia: A Structural Equation Modeling Analysis of Influencing Factors

The continued use of mobile health (mHealth) applications is crucial to ensuring the effectiveness of digital health services and their long-term impact, especially in developing countries like Indonesia. This study aims to identify the factors that influence continuance intention (the intention to continue using) mHealth applications in Indonesia. The factors examined include task-technology fit (TTF), perceived usability (perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceived flow, and perceived security), confirmation, and satisfaction. TTF emphasizes the fit between task and technology characteristics, while perceived usability refers to users' perceptions of the application's ease of use and usefulness. Confirmation refers to confirming user expectations of the application, and satisfaction refers to user satisfaction with the application. This study uses a quantitative approach with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) as the data analysis technique. Data were collected through an online survey of 211 respondents who are users of mHealth applications in Indonesia. The results showed that continuance intention is significantly influenced by task-technology fit, confirmation, perceived ease of use, perceived flow, perceived security, and satisfaction. Perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use indirectly influence continuance intention through satisfaction. This study provides implications for mHealth application developers to improve the continuance intention of application use by paying attention to these factors. mHealth application developers must ensure the suitability of application features to user needs, ease of use, perceived benefits, convenience, security, and user satisfaction.
