RZA-GSRS-Based Utility-Interfaced PV System for EV Charging
This paper presents a three-phase, four-wire (3P4W), utility interfaced, solar photovoltaic-voltage source converter (PV-VSC) based multi-tasking bidirectional system beneficial for electric vehicle (EV) charging and household loads using re-weighted zero-attraction generalised soft-root-sign (RZA-GSRS) adaptive filter (AF)-based control scheme using dual second-order generalised integrator. The active weight component of load currents is extracted from non-linear loads coupled at the point of common coupling using the RZA-GSRS technique. The system performance using proposed RZA-GSRS algorithm is also contrasted with that of traditional state-of-theart (AF) techniques. The realised system provides charging facility for EV, supplies critical residential loads and transfers the surplus power as an active to the utility mains. Therefore, the VSC also operates as a distribution static compensator. The system is realised in MATLAB environment in discrete time frame using Simulink and sim power system toolboxes under various operating conditions. The bidirectional DC/DC converter and VSC are operated at a switching frequency of 10 kHz respectively. The Total Harmonic Distortion of grid current and the point of common coupling voltage observed are within range in accordance to IEEE-519 and IEEE-929, respectively.
