Simulation research on bone imaging using x-ray induced acoustic computed tomography with a semicircular array
X-ray induced acoustic computed tomography (XACT) is a cutting-edge imaging technique that capitalizes on the thermoelastic effect. It offers the advantages of low X-ray radiation dose and high resolution. In the context of this study, a semicircular array was incorporated into the XACT technique for the evaluation of bone imaging. To optimize the XACT process, semicircular arrays with various element configurations were integrated into the simulation. This integration is conducive to determining the optimal number of elements that can achieve the best image quality. Furthermore, the XACT simulation images of bones were presented and compared with those obtained from computed tomography (CT). The results of the comparative analysis indicate that the XACT images are highly consistent with the CT images and can clearly depict the microstructures of bones. Evidently, the XACT technique holds potential application prospects in the field of bone imaging.
