Research on multialgorithm fusion-based underwater image enhancement technology

This study tackles underwater image degradation from light loss and scattering. It combines Laplacian edge detection, channel gain adjustment, Wiener filtering, and CLAHE to correct color shifts, improve blurriness, restore colors, remove particle blur, and enhance brightness. An automatic model classifies and applies tailored enhancements. Results show significant improvements in PSNR, UCIQE, and UIQM, especially in complex scenes, providing high-quality images for marine research.

Abstract

This study tackles underwater image degradation from light loss and scattering. It combines Laplacian edge detection, channel gain adjustment, Wiener filtering, and CLAHE to correct color shifts, improve blurriness, restore colors, remove particle blur, and enhance brightness. An automatic model classifies and applies tailored enhancements. Results show significant improvements in PSNR, UCIQE, and UIQM, especially in complex scenes, providing high-quality images for marine research.
