COMBINED METHOD OF DRILLING POLYMER COMPOSITE MATERIALS

Based on the analysis of the main disadvantages of the known methods of drilling holes in polymer composite materials, a new technological approach to this process is substantiated. The combined effect on the processed polymer composite material is the basis of the proposed approach. To implement the new approach, this paper presents a combined method of drilling composite materials to obtain high-precision holes and the required roughness of the surface processed by the drilling tool. The technical essence of this drilling method is that simultaneously with drilling, the workpiece is irradiated with nanosecond electromagnetic pulses. Processing of the workpiece with nanosecond electromagnetic pulses leads to the emergence of technological softening of the processed material and a decrease in the negative impact of the elastic aftereffect, which creates the prerequisites for increasing the productivity of the process of drilling polymer composite materials and the accuracy of the dimensions and shape of the processed holes.
