Iatrogenic Aortic Valve Injury: Case Series and Review of the Literature
During coronary angiography, the use of catheters may inadvertently result in damage to the aortic valve (AV), particularly when navigating the coronary ostium under specific circumstances, such as coronary ostial anomalies, or during complex procedures. This damage can present as lacerations or perforations, often leading to imaging findings that resemble infective endocarditis (IE) vegetation, fibroelastoma, or Lambl's excrescence.1 Recent coronary imaging or intervention in the patient's history should raise suspicion for this diagnosis.
