Evaluating the Role of Educational Media in Enhancing TVET Outcomes: An Analysis of Training Efficacy and Labor Market Alignment in Dar es Salaam,Tanzania

Educational media and instructional methods are critical in bridging the gap between technical training outcomes and labor market demands. This study examines the impact of educational media on the quality of skills acquired by Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students in Tanzania, with a focus on their workplace preparedness. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study employs regression analysis to measure the relationship between the quality of educational media and employability. Data were collected from 92 respondents, including 88 students and 4 trainers, using structured questionnaires, interviews, and observations. Regression results showed a significant positive influence of educational media on employability, with an adjusted R2R^2R2 value of 0.49, indicating that 49% of the variance in employability could be attributed to the effective use of educational media. Despite this, qualitative findings highlighted systemic challenges, including outdated resources, limited hands-on experiences, and weak industry collaboration. Addressing these challenges requires curriculum reform, modernized teaching tools, and enhanced partnerships with industries to align TVET training with labor market needs. These measures are crucial for enhancing graduate outcomes and promoting economic growth.

Abstract

Educational media and instructional methods are critical in bridging the gap between technical training outcomes and labor market demands. This study examines the impact of educational media on the quality of skills acquired by Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students in Tanzania, with a focus on their workplace preparedness. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study employs regression analysis to measure the relationship between the quality of educational media and employability. Regression results showed a significant positive influence of educational media on employability, with an adjusted R2R^2R2 value of 0.49, indicating that 49% of the variance in employability could be attributed to the effective use of educational media. Addressing these challenges requires curriculum reform, modernized teaching tools, and enhanced partnerships with industries to align TVET training with labor market needs. These measures are crucial for enhancing graduate outcomes and promoting economic growth.
