Study of the recommendations drawn up by the mobile team at Abbeville Hospital during 2022: Audit of 525 files
The main role of the mobile geriatrics team (EMG) is to assist the various departments in the care of the elderly, who are complex patients because they are frail, polypathological and have multiple medications. It provides geriatric expertise by carrying out assessments leading to recommendations. However, the requesting care team is free to follow or not the recommendations issued by the EMG. The question then arises: to what extent are these recommendations followed during the hospital stay? A retrospective, quantitative, monocentric, observational, descriptive and analytical study was therefore carried out on interventions in 2022 by auditing computerised patient records. The rate at which recommendations were followed was studied. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the follow-up of recommendations issued by the in-hospital EMG at Abbeville Hospital over 2022 during patients’ hospital stays. The secondary objectives are to identify the recommendations that are difficult to implement and to identify certain factors that may influence their follow-up. In total, 684 interventions were carried out in 2022, among which 525 met the inclusion criteria. The overall rate of compliance with the recommendations was 76.8%. Social recommendations were the most frequently followed. The least complied with concerned nutritional management. The EMG is called upon for its social skills more than for its medical geriatric expertise. The EMG needs to increase recognition of its medical expertise and train non-specialist services in the areas of undernutrition and iatrogenic dependency.
