Study on the Impact of Government Procurement on Enterprises’ New Quality Productivity

Government procurement, as a market-oriented support instrument on the demand side, has attracted widespread attention in academic circles. This paper selects A-share listed companies on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges from 2015 to 2023 as the research sample to empirically examine the impact of government procurement on firms’ new quality productive forces. The study finds that government procurement can enhance firms’ new quality productive forces. Mechanism tests indicate that government procurement improves these productive forces by alleviating financing constraints and reducing information asymmetry. Moreover, the positive effects are more pronounced in non-state-owned enterprises and firms that are not in their mature stages.
