Infant with Influenza Infection presenting as Acute Liver Failure
Acute liver failure (ALF) is rare in the paediatric population and is an uncommon complication of influenza A virus infection. We present a case of a 1-year-old previously healthy child who developed ALF due to H1N1 influenza. Following early diagnosis and prompt treatment with antiviral and supportive therapy, the child made a complete clinical and biochemical recovery. This case underscores the importance of considering influenza A as a potential aetiology in paediatric patients presenting with unexplained liver failure.
