Late Post-Pancreaticoduodenectomy Haemorrhage due to Pancreaticoduodenal Artery Pseudoaneurysm
Post-pancreaticoduodenectomy haemorrhage is an uncommon but serious complication of Whipple surgery. This case report details the postoperative complications experienced by a 46-year-old male who underwent a pancreaticoduodenectomy for periampullary carcinoma. Despite an uneventful surgery, the patient developed life-threatening intra-abdominal bleeding and haematemesis due to a Gastro-duodenal artery pseudoaneurysm, which ultimately required surgical intervention. The case emphasises the possibility of the formation of a pseudoaneurysm following pancreaticoduodenectomy.
