Realization of half-metallic intrinsic ferromagnetism with high Curie temperatures by the low oxidation state of chromium in Cr 2 TeX 2 (X = Br, I) monolayers

The monolayers of Cr 2 TeBr 2 and Cr 2 TeI 2 exhibit intrinsic FM half-metallicity with T C well above room temperature (904 K and 578 K). This arises from divalent Cr 2+ ions with a high-spin state and enhanced 180° d–p–d superexchange interaction.

Abstract

The monolayers of Cr 2 TeBr 2 and Cr 2 TeI 2 exhibit intrinsic FM half-metallicity with T C well above room temperature (904 K and 578 K). This arises from divalent Cr 2+ ions with a high-spin state and enhanced 180° d–p–d superexchange interaction.
