A Study of a Multidimensional Integrated PBL Model in German Translation Teaching from the Perspective of New Liberal Arts

The construction of the New Liberal Arts is driving a transformation in foreign language education toward interdisciplinary integration and the cultivation of practical and innovative competencies. Traditional models of German translation instruction face significant challenges in practice orientation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and technological integration. In response to these limitations, this paper proposes a restructured teaching model based on the Project-Based Learning (PBL) framework. The course design is student-centered, task-driven, and outcome-oriented, integrating German translation practice with disciplinary knowledge from literature, history, economics, and engineering. It aims to establish a multidimensional instructional framework that blends language, culture, technology, and communication. Through authentic interdisciplinary projects, the model fosters students’ language mediation skills, domain-specific knowledge application, and intercultural communication competence, thereby enhancing their professional translation proficiency and interdisciplinary thinking.
