The 2nd Moscow Military Infantry School of the Red Army in the Period from 1942 to 1944.

Officer training during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 is an insufficiently researched page of the military history of our Fatherland. One of its elements is the creation and operation of military schools. This publication reveals the experience of the formation and work of the 2nd Moscow Military Infantry School of the Red Army. Founded in February 1942, it carried out its educational activities until September 1944. The main problems faced by the command of the Moscow Military District and the specified educational institution during its creation and subsequent work are characterized. Using personal memories of an eyewitness to those events, cadet 1st class A.E. Shabolovsky, the conditions and difficulties encountered in the process of training and life of cadets are described. Systematic, ideographic and retrospective methods were used in the preparation of the publication. Previously unpublished documents discovered in the course of work in the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (CAMO RF) were used. The researcher studied the funds of the 2nd Moscow Military Infantry School (F. 60049) and the Moscow Military District (F. 135). The author comes to the conclusion that in conditions of limited human and material resources, the creation of new military schools and their further functioning was a difficult process. The situation on the fronts required a speedy replenishment of units and subunits by officers. The cadets completed an accelerated course of study for several months instead of several years. They had to deal with great physical and emotional stress. The problems of functioning of the 2nd Moscow Military Infantry School (staffing with permanent and variable personnel, difficult living conditions, poor educational facilities, etc.) were common to almost all military educational institutions of the Red Army during the Great Patriotic War of 1941- 1945. Nevertheless, the established military educational institutions made a significant contribution to achieving military victories on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War.
