THE IMPACT OF FIXED DENTAL PROSTHESES ON TOOTH AND ORAL TISSUES
The replacement of dental arch defects with xed prostheses involves the necessity of tooth preparaon for crowns, which adversely aects the ssues of the teeth, periodonum, and the body as a whole.Studying the impact of xed prostheses on the ssues of the teeth and oral cavity remains an important task in denstry. The aim of this study is to invesgate the main factors inuencing the condion of abutment teeth and the adjacent oral mucosa caused by xed dental prostheses.A key objecve is to improve the quality of xed prosthodonc treatment by prevenng the negave eects of tooth preparaon on periodontal ssues through the idencaon of clinical and morphological changes. We conducted a study among paents using metal crowns manufactured by standard shell stamping techniques. In addion, paents using xed paral dentures fabricated by the soldered-stamped method were examined.A literature review established a correlaon between the duraon of prosthesis usage and the causes for their removal.Scienc data indicate that within the rst year, the most common reason for removal is lesions of the oral mucosa; by the second year -periodontal inammaon; by the third year -fracture of veneers or the ponc secon of the prosthesis; by the h year -crown defects due to wear; and by the tenth year -dental caries and its complicaons.Premature removal of xed prostheses is oen indicave of substandard fabricaon or inappropriate prosthesis design. Our clinical ndings, along with evidence from other sources, conrm a direct correlaon between the condion of the adjacent oral mucosa and the hard ssues of the abutment teeth with the quality and longevity of metal crowns and xed paral dentures.
