THE INFLUENCE OF MAXILLOFACIAL DEFORMITIES ON SPEECH DISORDERS IN CHILDREN OF PRIMARY SCHOOL AGE

This work is devoted to evaluang the relaonship between malocclusion and speech disorders to understand their eology in schoolchildren for opmizing diagnosc and treatment algorithms. Most foreign authors aribute dental dysglossia as the main cause, which most oen manifests as the omission of some leers from words, the sub-stuon of phonecally similar sounds, incorrect pronunciaon of some sounds, and the inclusion of extra sounds in a word. The study involved 250 schoolchildren aged 7 to 9 years.Arculaon, its mechanisms, central and lateral dental occlusions, arculatory praxis, posion and size of the tongue at rest, and swallowing funcon were invesgated.Parcipants underwent a clinical examinaon by a single assessor under idencal condions, which consisted of assessing occlusion, crowding (discrepancy between available space and tooth size), assessing arculatory praxis and mascatory muscles by observing the muscles during balloon inaon and palpang the mascatory muscle when the paent clenches their teeth. The presence of harmful habits was invesgated through a quesonnaire with addional answers to a survey provided to parents regarding the child's habits.A correlaon was established between dental malocclusion and arculatory praxis in schoolchildren.According to our data, rotacism is observed in 72.5% of cases, and sigmasm in 68.3%.Thus, the presence of malocclusion can cause an imbalance in the funconing of the dentomaxillofacial system. It was found that this pathology is associated with harmful habits and funconal changes in the mascatory muscles, leading to dysfuncon of the dentomaxillofacial apparatus.Awareness of this connecon in young school-aged children will help relevant specialists implement new algorithms for prevenve and therapeuc measures for opmal development of the oral cavity and its structural elements.
