Phytochemical profiling of Dioscorea oppositifolia L. tuber using HRLCMS technique
Dioscorea oppositifolia L. is a tuberous medicinal plant with significant therapeutic potential. Preliminary screening revealed the presence of bioactive compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and phenolics, which contribute to their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. Methanolic tuber extract using High Resolution- Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (HR-LCMS) reveals the presence of bioactive compounds such as Propiverine, n-Butyl-2-cyanoacrylate, Ethyl 3-(N butylacetamido) propionate, Procyanidin B7, Senecionine, Plumieride, Glucovanillin, Acronycine, Edulinine, Santin, N-trans-Feruloyl-4-O methyldopamine, Lymecycline, L-Agaritine, Diisopropyl phthalate, Terminaline, Aliskiren, Citronellyl hexanoate, Chaksine with significant pharmacological and industrial applications.
