Reforzamiento diferencial de otras conductas aplicado a un caso de uso problemático del smartphone

Problematic smartphone use (PSU) is a phenomenon that affects how individuals socialize and function across different social settings, and is primarily characterized by excessive use of the device. PSU is common among individuals aged 14 to 24; however, it has also been identified as a concern among children, from preschool age through adolescence. In response to this issue, various intervention strategies have been developed to reduce smartphone usage time. This study presents the effects of an intervention based on the Differential Reinforcement of Other Behavior (DRO) technique on the amount of smartphone use in a nine-year-old participant. The results show a decrease in usage time as a function of the intervention. The implications of these findings for the field are discussed.
