Soil Nutrition Management using IoT and Machine Learning: Agri-Tech
Agriculture plays a critical role in maintaining the global economy and feeding a population expected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050. However, achieving sustainable agricultural productivity faces challenges such as soil degradation, nutrient imbalance, and inefficient farming practices. The lack of accessible, accurate, and real-time data on soil health exacerbates these issues. Motivated to address these challenges and ensure food security, this research introduces MATNURE, a system designed to provide precise information on soil nutrient distribution. The solution leverages smart soil and digital soil technology through IoT-enabled prediction towers and advanced machine learning models. MATNURE decomposes soil parameters, predicts soil quality, and maps essential nutrients to support informed agricultural decision making. By integrating IoT sensors and advanced computing, MATNURE delivers scientific data and actionable recommendations to farmers, improving soil health, improving crop yield and quality, and contributing to sustainable farming. This article highlights how smart agriculture technologies, exemplified by MATNURE, can increase profitability, ensure food security, and address the demands of a growing population.
