Design and Implementation of a LabVIEW-Based System for Effective Residual Chlorine Removal from Drinking Water

The presence of residual chlorine in drinking water is a significant concern due to its impact on taste and odor, which can lead to consumer avoidance of treated water. This study presents the design and implementation of an innovative electronic method for effectively removing residual chlorine, utilizing LabVIEW software and National Instruments (NI) hardware. The proposed system operates by heating water to a controlled temperature, optimizing chlorine reduction while preserving essential minerals. Experimental trials conducted on water supplied by the Ghaziabad Development Authority in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, demonstrated a successful reduction of chlorine levels, maintaining a pH range between 6.5 and 8.5. The technology enhances the sensory properties of drinking water, making it more appealing to customers. This research not only advances water treatment technology but also emphasizes the need for efficient development.
