Efficient ALA Rotor RSM Control Based on an MTPA Offline Computed Function
This paper presents a proposed control method based on a Maximum Torque per Ampere (MTP A) offline computed function with a smooth transition to a Maximum Torque per Flux (MTPF) function for an Axially Laminated Anisotropic Rotor Synchronous Reluctance Machine (ALA Rotor RSM). The method aims to operate the machine at the maximum efficiency points. Simulation results are presented based on a model that includes iron, copper and mechanical losses, experimentally determined for an ALA Rotor RSM lOkW (40Nm, 2.4-4.8krpm) prototype. To validate the method, this is compared with an experimentally measured look-up table function by operating the prototype at its maximum efficiency points across a large range of torque and speed combinations.
