Multiband PIFA Antenna for Multiple Band Applications
The multiband PIFA antenna is described for LTE, 5G, and multiple-band applications. The proposed multiband PIFA antenna consists of eight small rectangle slots created on patch and inserted shorting pin connected via ground to patch with inset feed and 50Ω impedance coplanar waveguide port. The multi-band PIFA is applicable for L (1-2) GHz, S (2-4) GHZ, C (4-8) GHz, K (8-12) GHz. while keeping the size 45×36×1.6mm3. The achieved maximum antenna gain of 5dBi, directivity 8.22 dBi and maximum efficiency 75% and achieves frequency bands 0.92, 2.5, 3, 3.62, 5.64, 6.98, and 9.36 GHz with return loss -18, -15, -49, -13, -22, -24, and -11 dB respectively. The antenna has been fabricated using FR-4 lossy substrate material with material permittivity r = 4.4, loss tangent tan ä = 0.025, and thickness of 1.6mm.
