A Novel Robust 20-Pole Resolver Proposal and Its Accuracy Analysis Under Eccentric Rotor

This work presents an analysis of a novel, robust, slotted-type 20-pole resolver. The proposed resolver features a non-overlapping winding configuration, with the field and signal windings positioned on the rotor and stator. Its performance is evaluated under both healthy and faulty conditions, focusing on accuracy in the presence of eccentricity faults. A flexible Magnetic Equivalent Circuit (MEC) model with adjustable accuracy is employed due to its lower computational cost and reduced processing requirements compared to the Finite Element Method (FEM). To enhance accuracy, the MEC model incorporates space harmonics caused by slot openings. Various simulations are conducted to assess resolver accuracy under both healthy and faulty conditions, demonstrating its robustness. Finally, experimental results validate the simulation findings. Given its proven accuracy and robustness, the proposed resolver is a suitable choice for sensitive applications requiring high reliability.
