Optimizing Refrigerator Energy Use with Weight Sensitive Compartmental Cooling Systems

The Internet of Things is a major factor in the current era’s increased ease and convenience of human living. Smart appliances are becoming more common than traditional appliances by increasing connectivity, power consumption, robustness, and efficiency. Appliances that have web interfaces are referred to as "smart." As a result, smart appliances are expected to become a fixture in every home soon. Televisions, dishwashers, washing machines, water purifiers, and refrigerators are examples of smart appliances. In this study, we provide a strategy for enhancing the intelligence of a conventional refrigerator. By incorporating computational intelligence, which uses a microprocessor and a variety of sensors to enhance the fridge’s performance, smart refrigerators aid in food management and energy conservation. The refrigerator gains cost-effective intelligence by using automation techniques. The research suggests a weight-sensitive compartmental cooling smart refrigerator technology that improves energy efficiency. Weight sensors optimize energy consumption by detecting the presence of food and modifying cooling intensity based on weight. In order to save energy, cooling has been turned off in empty compartments. Significant energy savings are achieved while preserving food, according to prototype testing. This study highlights the potential of sensor technology for home refrigeration that uses less energy. Additionally, the smart fridge can detect if the door is left open by sending out a notification through an online or mobile app.
