Assessing Groundwater Quality in Rampura-Bathinda for Physicochemical Parameters & Heavy Metal Concentrations using Electronic Equipment
This investigation delves into the physicochemical properties and heavy metal concentrations in Bathinda, India’s groundwater. Samples were examined using state-of-the-art electronic testing equipment. The attained results show variations in the water quality due to higher-than-usual quantities of pollutants. While levels of chloride up to 346.06 mg/l may cause corrosion and raise concerns about water salinity, fluoride levels as high as 2.0 mg/l pose risks of dental and skeletal fluorosis. Over 49.5mg/l of nitrate may result in newborn methemoglobinemia; 0.072 mg/l of aluminium can cause neurological problems; and sulphate can change the taste of water and cause digestive issues and Uranium levels as high can cause cancer diseases. The study’s conclusions emphasize the vital importance of sustainable industrial and agricultural operations. Thus, by highlighting the current state and the necessity of sustainable practices in improving and safeguarding water quality for public health in the selected study area, the research contributes to our understanding of the current state of groundwater quality in Bathinda and serves as a model for future investigations aimed at ensuring safe and sustainable groundwater resources. This is in line with the sustainable development goals (SDGs) specifically SDG-3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG-6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).
