Investigation of methods for estimation of fatigue parameters and behavior of aluminum and titanium alloys
Selected representative methods for estimation of strain-life fatigue parameters of aluminum and titanium alloys are evaluated using previously proposed comprehensive methodology. Detailed material datasets on a number of aluminum and titanium alloys were assembled using data published in the relevant literature, including monotonic properties, cyclic stress-strain and strain-life fatigue parameters. With separate analyses, averaging of evaluation results was avoided and detailed and precise ratings of individual methods were obtained. Evaluation results provide detailed insight on the accuracy of selected estimation methods and their applicability for the estimation of fatigue parameters of aluminum and titanium alloys with different ultimate tensile strengths both in general as well as in low-cycle and high-cycle fatigue regimes separately.
