A High Voltage Gain Dc/Dc Boost Converter With Low Component Counts by Using Coupled Inductor for Renewable Energy Applications

In this article, a high voltage gain DC/DC boost converter with low component counts by using a coupled inductor is introduced to boost the input voltage. The use of coupled inductors in this circuit helps to boost the voltage and reduce stress on the switch. Advantages of the proposed converter include a low component count, common ground, high voltage gain, and circuit simplicity. Furthermore, the proposed converter's diodes exhibit zero-current switching (ZCS) and zero-voltage switching (ZVS) characteristics, which contribute to an enhancement in the overall efficiency of the system. In addition, the proposed structure features continuous input current, and voltage analysis is performed for the converter in continuous conduction mode. The output voltage is boosted to a level roughly 11.4 times greater than the input voltage. Finally, it is extensively analyzed, and PSCAD/EMTDC simulation results are used to confirm the validity of the theoretical analyses.
